I have been unemployed now for 3yrs and have exhausted all my unemployment benefits so I've been struggling with money. I was forced to move at the end of Jan. 2011 so I lost my phone service with Quest. I moved in with a friend but was unable to get my phone service back on until almost the end of Feb. and on the last 3 days of that month, I made 3 long distance phone calls back to Maine. The total amount of the 3 calls came to $1.38.

The 10-10-297 run by VarTec Telecom, billed through USBI than submitted to me by Quest was nothing more than a bunch of FEES totaling $8.14. There was nothing on this bill but fees so I ended up spending OVER 4 1/2 hours with VarTec and USBI to explan this to me. When I asked to speak to a supervisor at VarTec because I could barely understand the person on the other end of the line; not to mention that what I could understand wasn't making any since to me for these fees, he said that a supervisor would get back to me in 24hrs. Guess who had to call who the next day! The supervisor explanned the fees - in English - to me and didn't care about the fact that I HAD NO PHONE for the month of Feb. so I was UNABLE to make enough long distance calls during that month to avoid the fees. He rather lose my business of about $30-$35 a month; so good for you VarTec, keep your $8.14 of fees...........see ya ! 129798c
